I grew up needing to spout that lie many times. I was the brunt of those who needed to prove themselves with their name-calling. Maybe that line helped me ward off the pain, but I doubt it. The healing that was necessary as an adult was long and arduous.
I have been asked about my recent references to "practical atheism." It is a term I use in reference to Christians, not atheists. Most pre-believers will not see it in our lives, but the saints who are pressing on for the fulness of what God has for them will.
The Proverb under consideration for this article goes back to the principle of sowing and reaping. This is a principle we will visit many times in the course of this study.
